From the Principal:
End of the year update
School is quickly drawing to a close. First, I want to thank each of you for entrusting your children to us. This has been a great year for our students. We received our third grade CSAP scores from the state and we had 82.6% of our students scoring in the partially proficient, proficient, and advanced range. These are incredible results! Also, students just completed their NWEA testing. This test measures our student’s growth from Fall to Spring. In math our students made leaps and bounds. The percentages of students meeting their growth targets for math scored in the 99th percentile. Our average for students meeting their growth targets in math and reading 2-11th grade was the 82.5 percentile.
We are so proud of our students and teachers. During the summer, please encourage your students to keep reading!
If you have not enrolled for next year, please do so at your earliest possible convenience. Pikes Peak Prep has amazing programs planned for next year. Our Literacy and Math blocks of direct instruction allow for students to be accelerated or remediated in order to meet their individual needs. Once again, we will offer vocal and instrumental music, art, and an array of programs in physical education and after school sports activities and clubs. [READ MORE]
THE GAZETTE: Charter school will get new name
The Pikes Peak Prep is getting a new name to better reflect its mission. It will be known as Pikes Peak Prep because "we want students who are coming here to go to college," said Kevin Teasley, president and chief executive officer of the foundation that oversees the school.
The school offers a "Middle College" program in which eligible high school students can earn college credits without charge.
The school's board OK'd the name change this week, but the school will go by both names until signs and other information can be changed, Teasley said. The K-12 school serves about 200 students. For more information, go to www.21ccharter.org/Colorado.
