Anthony Michael Cherry is a product of Gary, Indiana. He attended Bethune Elementary school before being selected to participate in the gifted and talented program at Banneker Elementary. He later attended Tolleston Middle School then graduated from Calumet High School as a standout football player and member of Business Professional of America.
In 2001, Mr. Cherry graduated from ball State University where he became a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and co-founded the Black History 101 Program which sought to educate African-American students on their history both in Africa and America. Cherry enrolled at California State University, Sacramento (Sac State) in 2002 to pursue his life long goal of being a teacher. While attending Sac State, Cherry hosted a morning radio show on 96.5 FM the KNOZ and hosted a weekly television show called “On The Real Videos”.
After completing his Masters Degree in Educational Leadership at Sac State, Mr. Cherry returned to the “Region” and began teaching Sociology and Psychology at Kaplan College.
Mr. Cherry is beginning his fifth year at 21st Century Charter School.
